Using AM3703 with USB need advise

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AM3703, DM3730

I have too many questions to post. Would like to have a conversation with someone well versed in USB functionality to help guide a design.

IDEA!  If you have a chat room we can go to, that would work also.

Please advise your interest and we can discuss off line.

Thanks,

  • I am curious why you are posting in the MSP430 forum if your topic is regarding the AM3703, are you trying to interface an AM3703 to a MSP430 via USB?

In this case it seems possible though I am not familiar with all the gadget modes supported by the MSP430, how possible this would be depends on what you need it to do. In general the AM3703 USB support is entirely built into the PSP Linux kernel, so you can see from the release notes what modes are supported (see here for example). To quote the PSP 3.00.00.01.06 release notes:

    PSP 3.00.00.01.06 release notes said:
    • MUSB host supporting MSC, HID and USB Audio/Video
    • MUSB gadget supporting File-storage and CDC/RNDIS
    • MUSB OTG supporting HNP/SRP
    • EHCI host supporting MSC, HID(via a HS hub) and USB Audio/Video

In general if you have a few basic questions (or at least what you want to do) to get started on the forum it would help in narrowing the discussion and whom you would want to talk to, USB can be a somewhat broad topic, the forum can handle a lot of questions.

There are chat rooms for the community based boards like BeagleBoard (see here), the Beagle XM in particular is based on a DM3730 which is a superset device of the AM3703 (it adds in a C64x+ DSP and SGX 3D graphics accelerator). There are no official TI channels for chat rooms I am aware of, but you will see some TIers in the community rooms from time to time.

  • I'm in the middle of evaluating the capacity of the AM3703 to execute qt5 3d apps. I know that the main difference between

the am3703 and the dm3730 for my app is the gpu and sgx suport. I know as well that the 3715 would be a good alternative given

the SGX support. At this point, I am exploring MESA as a way to implement software rendering; however, it seems that

without SGX drivers, there isn't much I can do. Would you say that the OMAP35x Graphics SDK 3 would have

any effect on a 3703? I have in fact tried this, but I haven't seen any extra errors, so I don't know if

it is helping at all. Thanks in advance for any hints..

  • I am moving this thread to the AM3x Sitara processors forum.
