I have a customer who wants Linux running on the ARM to be completely independent from the firmware code that is running on the DSP. At this point, one of the engineers has implemented a "proof of concept" using something called remoteproc in Linux. They seem to be running into a number of roadblocks getting this to work, and the team is very concerned about the apparent overhead that is required to support this in the SYS/BIOS configuration for the DSP. This approach seems to be targeted toward using the DSP as some sort of co-processor for Linux.
Admittedly, maybe using remoteproc is the only way to do this, but they were curious if we had any thoughts on the matter.
