AM4372: MPU load supporting two GBit ethernet PHYs

Genius 12760 points
Part Number: AM4372

Can you provide benchmarks for AM4372 supporting two DP83867 at maximum data throughput?

What processor performance is left for processing other data?

Regards Bernd

  • Hi,

The answer to this depends on the OS that is being used as that will have a significant impact on performance. Linux is the only OS that TI has throughput performance numbers for networking.

One thing to consider is the topology, is it a dual MAC or a daisy chain configuration for the CPSW. If a daisy chain topology then the pass-through traffic does not impact the ARM in the AM4372.

One recommendation is that even if the OS is not Linux a "what if" experiment could be done with a AM437 EVM and using the iperf and cpuloadgen utilities to determine an approximation if the AM437 could handle the network and compute requirements for the application.

    Best Regards,
