Hi,

In looking through various safety certified RTOS platforms I came across the Microsoft Azure RTOS platform.

However it appears that Texas Instrument are not partners of Microsoft on this platform.

Given the Hercules / Sitara / Jacinto safety devices, it seems like quite a natural fit for Texas Instruments to partner with Microsoft for a safety certified RTOS platform.

Is there any plan / timeline for Texas Instruments reaching a Partnership agreement with Microsoft on this platform? It would ease chip customer licence issues, since under the partnership chips sold by Texas Instruments would be allowed to run the Azure RTOS without additional licence considerations.

It seems several silicon vendors already have Azure RTOS (formally ThreadX). NXP. ST Micro, Microchip, Renesas and MXChip. This is an Ideal OS for safety critical system as it is already pre-certified with TUV, UL and IEC etc. Seems ideal for Hercules or your other M4 offerings.

We at Jabil have several high volume projects and would like to use Azure RTOS but TI seems to be the exception.

I have implemented FreeRTOS with lwip stack on your MSP432 but Azure RTOS seems to far superior.

Hello RonB,

I'm also interested in running a pre-certified RTOS, in my case on the R5F cores of the TDA4VM, where AzureRTOS would be a possible candidate. Could you please also share these not-yet-public plans on that topic with me?

Yes, safety certification according to IEC 61508 or ISO 26262 for example. Another potentially feasible option, which does lack several interesting features however (e.g. safe GUI), would be SAFERTOS.
