TDA4VM: J721E cann't work as the grand master role in PTP test.

Hi,

I refered rtos-07_01_00_11-docs_only/ethfw/docs/user_guide/demo_ethfw_combined_top.html to test PTP function. The J721E can only work as slave role, and a PC works as grand master role. I changed priority1 and priority2 of ptp4l's config file which is in PC . But It didnk't work. How colud I make J721E work as grand master role?

In addition, the J721E is booted with TF card which is flashed with prebuilt bootfs and rootfs. The bootfs and rootfs come from ti-processor-sdk-linux-j7-evm-07_01_00_10-Linux.

Hi,

CPSW9G EthFW is configured to run as Slave. This is compile time option.

You can search SDK source code for "ptpConfig->isMaster" and you should find the place where it is set to 0 by default.

You can change the default setting but you will have to rebuild EthFW and generate a new R5 binary for mcu2_0.

Hi Stanley,

I set "ptpConfig->isMaster" as 1 in code. After booting up, the J7 SOC can work as ptp clock master. J7 SOC sends out announce and request packages, but it does not send sync and followup packages. A PC can recognizes that J7 SOC is the clock master, but the PC does not print offset value and path delay value. It seems that th PC can sycnhronize to J7 SOC.

Have you tested this feature? Any advice?

Sorry, you are right.

The master mode was not implemented in our PTP stack even though there is a flag for it.

No, it is not planned for next release.

I will report this issue back to our development team.

Could you tell me how critical this issue is for your project?

Can you use only slave mode for now?

If it is a must have for your project, what is the need date?
