AM3354: Does AM3354 IBIS model support to do RGMII simulation?

Hi,

We use two RGMII interface for Ethernet PHY and would like to do simulation because layout trace is too long.

Does AM3354 IBIS model support to do RGMII simulation?

We find it has MII model on those pins which we used as RGMII signals, but no RGMII model.

    Hi,

    If you could attach the exact ibis model that you are using that would be helpful.

    There were a couple of releases of the IBIS model and we would like to make sure you were using the updated one.

    Hi Yume,

    I looked through the IBIS model and the datasheet as well.

    The device appears to support multiple mux modes on the MII pins, including RGMII. If you look at Table 4-2 of the datasheet you will find the different mux modes for each pin. The model selector in the IBIS model should allow for simulations with any of these I/O modes.

    Reassigning to confirm that my understanding is accurate.

    Hi Shriram,

    Yes, we have found many model selector on the MII pins.

    But not sure which one we should use for RGMII.

    For example, Pin L17, it has model 136~ model 159 as attached file.

    Hi,

    Thanks for the details. In general, the different I/O settings configure the output slew rate, pull-up/pull-down drivers and I/O voltage mode etc.

    Let me check on more details regarding which ones are specific to RGMII.

    Hi,

    Here are some more details which should guide selection of appropriate RGMII I/O models.

    Please choose these depending on your specific application:

    IO mode: 1.8v or 3.3v.

    IO slew: Fast or slow. RGMII should only allows for fast slew.

    Supply:  5% or 10% variation.

    Weak pulls on the I/O: Both disabled, pull up enabled or pulldown enabled. Pulls should be disabled for RGMII.
