TMDSLCD1EVM: Which case we need to use LVDS buffer (DS25BR440TSQ&DS10BR150TSD)?

Part Number: TMDSLCD1EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMDX654IDKEVM,

Dear Team

For Am65x DSS design, LVDS buffer can improve the SI for Long LVDS cable (or work in the noise environment), LVDS Buffer: Data&CLK(DS25BR440TSQ&DS10BR150TSD)

The connection for EVM are: TMDX654IDKEVM (BTB CONN)->TMDSLCD1EVM (FPC)-> Display(RK101II01D)

Normally, Is the LVDS buffer necessary for my case? (Display module connect with AM65xx with Board to wire connector directly )

>>Case: TMDX654IDKEVM (BTW CONN)-> Display(RK101II01D), LVDS trace on PCB<10cm, LVDS Cable<100cm,

I uncertain if we can delete the LVDS BUFFER in this case, What is your suggestion?

Thanks

  • I would recommend simulating your setup using the AM65x IBIS model to see if the signal strength meets the requirements at the receiver. Another option is to include the design with the LVDS buffer, but also resistor options to bypass. Then you can test both with and without the buffer to see what best fits your design.
