TMDXICE110: PRSDK RTOS : Multiple UART ports

Hello,

I am using PRSDK RTOS AM335x v6 for my AMIC evaluation board. I want to use another UART port to send data to 4g module and print the response in the serial debug terminal (UART0). From the amic datasheet, I could UART0-5 6 ports, but I could not imagine that 6 physical ports present in TMDXICE110 board. Kindly guide me as I am really confused.

Hi Karthik,

In general, the features on our device are not all available simultaneously, and therefore, our EVMs only enable a subset of the device features.

While the AMIC110 device has 6 UART ports, the TXDXICE110 EVM only enables access to one UART port (UART0).

Hi Melissa,

Can you clear my doubt on this :

What if I want to send and receive commands to a 4g module through any of the UART1 - UART5 ports and print the same in the UART0 port?

Is it possible with TMDXICE110 evaluation board?

Karthik,

The UART1 port is available on the TMDXICE110 LaunchPad headers (J4, pins 9 and 19). These signals could potentially be used with your 4g module. However, please note that these pins on the TMDXICE110 are 3.3V I/Os. You will need to confirm that this is compatible with your 4g module before connecting these signals as-is.

Thank you. And should I necessarily use Pinmux tool to enable the UART in LaunchPad headers and generate corresponding .h and .c files for using its instance?

Yes, you will want to use the Pinmux tool to ensure that you correctly configure the pinmux for this UART instance.

Hi mellisa,

When I loaded the existing iceamic11x_config.pinmux design from pdk/ti/starterware/tools/pinmux , there was already a UART_launchpad instance defined. So, that means I can simply proceed with editing the code??
