AM5708: Simultaneous support for PRP and PPS (Pulse per Second ) signal generation using PTP protocol

Part Number: AM5708

Hi,

We are using AM5708 in our design. We already implemented PRP in our product and it works fine.

We also able to ptp4l and phc2sys to run ptp boundary clock over prp0 interface.

Our question is it possible have both two Ethernet ports for prp + the PPS signal coming out from the AM5708 SoC?

When I read the Technical Reference Manual(spruhz7i_UserManual.pdf) find the below statement as a foot note in page number 7210.

"In AM570x SR2.x, the MII2 mode can only be used to provide an alternate mux option for pr1_edc_sync0_out, pr2_edc_sync0_out, pr1_edc_latch0_in, and pr2_edc_latch0_in. The MII

signals in this mode are not supported and shall not be used. Additionally, the MII2 mode cannot be selected if PRU-ICSS1 MII0 or PRU-ICSS1 MII1 are used in any capacity."

Does this mean in AM5708 we can not use two Ethernet ports for prp prtocol + PPS signal support at the same time?

Thank you in advance.

Best Regards
