Difficult to meet clock requirements for OMAP3530

The OMAP clock seems to have impossible requirements.  The TPS65073 design guide says that the OMAP processor requires a square clock with rise/fall times <= 2.5ns. 

The oscillator that is on the board now has a 6ns rise/fall time.  The suggestion in the guide section 3.2.4, is to use an AND gate to square up the clock edges, but I can’t find any gates (schottky, line driver, AND etc) that will do that.

The CDCE913 may be capable of performing this feat but seems to be an expensive part. Are there any other recommendations? Must use non-BGA packages. The Pericom PI6C10804WE device seems to have a rise/fall time of <1ns, but it doesn’t specifically talk about squaring up a sine-wave input.

Your suggestions are greatly appreciated.

  • The TPS65073 design guide data for the OMAP35xx clock requirements appear to be outdated.
    Our latest spec sheet for the OMAP3530 shows that for the 26MHz clock, the transition time requirement is <=3.6 ns.
    The most recent spec sheet for the device in question should always be used as the final spec for design.
