Hello,
My reading of the documentation on general purpose timers in the AM/DM37 technical reference manual, chapter 16, tells me that it is not possible to generate a 4.096 MHz clock using one of the gptX_pwm_evt (X=8,9,10,11) output lines. The reason for this comes from the potential clock sources for the gptX lines: the 32 KHz clock (too slow), or the sys clock running at one of 12/13/19.2/26/38.4 MHz.. Since none of the potential sys clock rates is an integer multiple of 4.096 MHz then I will not be able to generate such a clock with a 50% duty cycle.
This seems to be corroborated by the equation listed in section 16.2.4.7 for the 'OVF_Rate' (which by the way should be called OVF_PERIOD since it is measured in time units, not in Hz) for which I fail to find any value for GPTn.TLDR that would give me the desired frequency.
I would appreciate if anyone out there can confirm whether my statement above is correct or not. Also, if it is correct, can you suggest a different way to generate this clock rate? Maybe using a facility other than gptimers?
Thank you
