TDA2EG-17: if the cpts module support capturing external PPS signals

Part Number: TDA2EG-17

Dear TI team:
Does the cpts module support capturing external PPS signals for synchronization or clock calibration?
Application background:1.Customers need to support the gPTP function on the board. Our board is used as masterclock, but it needs to be aligned with PPS and GPRMC sentence。
And our board has a GNSS receiver that can provide PPS signals.
2.I use the open source project Linuxptp to meet this function,and ts2phc is a subroutine in linuxptp to align the PHC clock to the PPS .But the driver /dev/ptp0 does not support
Doubt:
I see that keystone2 supports direct triggering of the hardware pps pin. Is there a big difference between these twochips?

And if the cpts module support capturing external PPS signals ?

  • Hi,

CPTS module does not natively support 1PPS as an input signal. You would have to use a GPIO, Timer or some other HW to implement such a functionality (we do not have a reference for such implementation)

The CPSW module which is connected to CPTS on TDA2x is identical to the one on AM57 platform which has a reference boundary clock implementation (in conjunction with PRU-ICSS module). You can take a look at it as a reference.
