66AK2G12: Example firmware for DSS

I need an example firmware project that demonstrates the DSS (display subsystem) on the 66AK2G12.

I am using custom hardware, but I would be interested to see such a project for the K2GEVM evaluation module.

Section 6.24.2.1 of the Processor SDK RTOS 06_03_00_106 documentation, regarding the DSS, states:

For details about individual fields of DSS library structure, see the Doxygen help by opening PDK_INSTALL_DIR\packages\ti\drv\dss\docs\doxygen\html\index.html.

I installed PROCESSOR-SDK-RTOS-K2G, version 6.03.00.106 on my development PC. Directory C:\ti\pdk_k2g_1_0_16\packages\ti\drv contains no subdirectory dss. This seems odd, considering that the 66AK2G12 data sheet states that the device indeed contains a DSS. I assume PROCESSOR-SDK-RTOS-K2G is the correct SDK for this device.

Please tell me how to proceed.

Hi Andy,

Processor SDK RTOS for k2g does not support DSS driver.

Sorry for the confusion. The DSS driver is mainly for other processors such as AM65xx, J721E etc.

Follow-up questions:

1. Is the DSS peripheral in the 66AK2G12 functionally equivalent to the DSS peripheral in the devices you mentioned (AM65xx, J721E etc.)?

2. Is it identical at the register level?

3. Could an experienced embedded systems engineer be reasonably expected to be able to port the DSS driver library for the devices you mentioned to the 66AK2G12 platform, say, within 2-3 weeks?

4. What does TI recommend as an approach an engineer should take to bring up the DSS hardware in the 66AK2G12?

Hi Andy,

The Linux DSS driver which supports all three devices can perhaps give you an idea of the compatibility.

Note the dispc_features structure that has been populated for each device.
