Hi team,

Our customer plans to take USB compliance test with their system. Their system was developed with AM3356(Linux SDK version:06_03_00_106) and USB port is configured as OTG port.

Customer is asking if Linux SDK is supporting this USB compliance testing or not. If Linux SDK supports this testing, could you elaborate how customer should do this, please?

I believe they'd like to take this testing as both USB-host and USB-device. Can I have your Expert's advice/comments on this, please?

    Hi Miyazaki-san,

    Yes, linux supports the test in both host or device mode, but not OTG protocols.

    I am looping in our USB HW expert to see if he has any USB compliance test related comments.

    Would you have any comments from USB HW experts?

    Regarding Host compliance test (Electrical Test), we need to configure something like test-mode. this means, Linux SDK has something like this test-mode-configuration. Is my understanding correct? I suppose EHCI HSETT(High-Speed Electrical Test Tool) is usually used. However, it is windows application. I’m not sure if there is similar Linux-app in SDK. it would be appreciated if you will share the helpful information which includes this procedure of USB compliance for AM335x's system..

    Hi Miyazaki-san,

    Sorry for the delay.

    Linux makes AM335x USB functional as USB host, peripheral, or a dual-role device, and Linux does support the test cases by HSETT, but we cannot comment on whether Linux supports "all" test cases because those Linux functions are platform independent and not developed by TI. We only did a few test cases which are used to validate the board design, but not others which are related to the USB controller characters.

    If your customer is only interested in USB testmodes which are defined in the USB2.0 Specs, not other compliance test, they can run the test on AM335x without HSETT if they want to, Linux has commend to directly put the AM335x USB to different testmode.

    Your customer probably know is, but I just wanted to note that HSETT runs on a separate PC, not on AM335x Linux.
