Question on TPS3808 in EVM6437

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS3808

Hi All,

I have noticed that in EVM6437 design there are three TPS3808 employed to monitor supply voltage. There model type is TPS3808G09, which according to SBVS050J has threshold voltage of 0.84V.

My question is why are they provided and are they a must in the system? What is the benefit? If I can ensure stable external power supply (through adapter, etc.), do I still need them?

These TPS3808’s monitor VCC_1V8, VCC_3V3 and DSP_CORE_VDD respectively. What happens when any of the voltage falls large below its nominal value? Does it just decrease chip (DM6437) speed, or could cause damage to the chip?

Thanks,

Zheng
