AM4372: Using at 300MHz

Guru 10225 points

Part Number: AM4372

Hi Sitara support Team,

Is it possible to operate AM4372 800/600MHz products at 300MHz
for power consumption and EMC measures?

Is there any problem in changing the input CLK frequency and register settings
by constant multiples or other methods?

Best regards,
Kanae

  • You cannot simply scale down frequency of the reference clock. There are two clock domains that you may be able to scale down. One is the MPU sub-system and the other is the Display sub-system. However, your specific system requirements and software implementation would need to accommodate changing the operating frequency of these clock domains.

The clock domains used by internal interconnect components and peripherals must operate at their designed frequency.

    Paul

  • Hi Paul ,

    Thank you for reply.
I understand that it is not possible to simply scale down the frequency of the reference clock,
but it is possible to use a 600/800MHz product as 300MHz.

I will introduce the MPU subsystem and the display subsystem to our customers
as possible clock domains to scale down.

    Best regards,
    Kanae

  • Your customer's system software will need to be able to service interrupts and move data without buffer over-flows. This may be possible, but is system/application dependent. Therefore, your customer will need to evaluate their system performance with expected operating conditions to answer this question.

  • Hi Paul,

    Thank you for your support.
If I have additional questions, I will post them in a new thread.

    Best regards,
