Hi,

we are trying to desing a platform based on Linux and a DM3730 processor. For that purpose, we are using a Beagleboard-xM as a reference.

However, due to reliability requirements we would like to store kernel and rootfs in an external NOR flash. As I understand from the Reference Manual, this is possible through GPMC interface.

Do you know about any board with u-boot and linux support we can use as a reference for booting from NOR?

This OMAP35x Zoom Kit from Logic PD appears to have 8MB of NOR flash:

You may need to do a little more research to find out from Logic whether they directly support boot from NOR. I would hope/think that they do, but I don't know that for sure.

I've worked with other customers in the past to support NOR flash on boards that have been primarily supported through NAND flash. The u-boot source code supports NOR flash very well so it was very easy to get things running.

do OMAP35x and DM3730 have the same GPMC interface and booting approach?

Yes, the DM3730 is more or less pin for pin compatible with OMAP3530, e.g. a few capacitors change. The GPMC and booting function the same though.
