TDA4VM: MCU CAN DEMO application CAN Frame ID related query

Hi,

I am testing a MCU CAN Demo application(for reception only mode ) on TDA4EV board. I am sending data through PEAK systems PCAN View tool.

I am sending Frames with different IDs but reception for frame with frame ID 0A8 is not happening, all other frames are getting received.

What could be the reason. Is there any filter applied for the reception of Frames?

If so how to disable it.

As I have verified reception of Frames on Linux side using CANDUMP. All frames even (0A8)

are getting received there.

Hi Pooja,

Acceptance filtering happens on the receiving CAN nodes side, if in the application you have filters setup to accept (receive) CAN packets with ID 0A8 then it will be received, else it will be rejected.

Can you please tell me where these filers have been applied as I am using the demo application as it is.

If I have to setup filter to receive frame with CAN ID 0A8, where should I make the changes?

Hi Pooja,

Which application from the application are you using? And can you send me the patch you are using on top of the SDK (if there is any).

I want to look at your modifications so that I can comment better.

Essentially we have a CSL example for CAN and an MCUSW demo on CAN, are you using one of those?

Hi Karan,

I am using application from mcusw/mcuss_demos/profiling/CAN.

I have not applied any patch. I just tested the application for reception of frames in which I found reception for

Frame id 0A8 is not happening.

Are you able to get all message but just not 0xA8? Also which MCAN instance do you want to receive this ID on? I will send you the modifications on top of the SDK after these clarification questions.

Yes, I am able to get all other frames but 0A8 is the only frame that is not getting received.

I am using MCAN0 to receive frames.

Also, I want to ask how to add filters to receive only specific frames (not range of frames)?

I want to receive only frames with frame id 226, 1AB, 0A8, 453, 588 and 58B.

Hi Pooja,

I'm a just thinking if you do not have filters for the rest of the IDs, how are you even getting those.

I will need to try this at my end before. Also, I will send you a patch which you can then refer to add filters.

Hi Karan,

Yes, in the .cfg file there are only two values for filters (177 and 192 ) but still

it accept all other frames.
