Linux: Memory mapping different in windows and linux compiled code.

Hi,

I have my code base checked out on both Linux and Windows. I have ported the code compilation from windows to linux.

The following tools are used for compilation (both in windows as well as linux)
DSP_BIOS: 5.33.03.00
C6000_CGT: 6.1.11
TI_CSL: c6488

There are no additional optimizations done on linux.

Yet there are some differences in the memory mapping. I have attached the map files for your reference.
Could you please help me figure out why the differences are seen in the memory placements?

Which TI RTOS SDK version are you compiling?

Hi Yordan,

This is an application code compiled using compiler version 6.1.11 for Faraday DSP.

I again checked my makefile on linux and windows for optimization level..

In linux makefile, the optimization is like below:

OPTIMIZATION_FLAG = -o3 -mf5 -ms1

Whereas in windows makefile it is OPTIMIZATION_FLAG = -o3 -mf5.

(I removed -ms1 from the linux makefile and checked the size of the binary, now the size matched with that of windows bin)

Does -ms1 have any significance related to compressing the size of the functions in code?

Tejaswini,

Please check the Compiler Optimization guide provided below. Refer section 3.5 to look at the impact of -ms which is compiler option to reduce code size.
