CCS/TMS320DM8127: Difference between building a project for ARM Cortex A8 and ARM Cortex M4

Hi ,

Can someone tell me what are the diffences between building a project for ARM Cortex A8 and ARM Cortex M4 in CCS v8 (debug file, binaries file ....) ? I'm trying to build simple project on ARM - M4 ( TM4C123GXL launchpad ) before moving to ARM - A8 on DM8127.

Hi Le Hai,

DM8127 device do not have Cortex-M4 core, it has Cortex-M3 core.

For difference between CCS projects (RTOS and bare-metal) for A8 and M4, you can refer to below user guide:

you might misunderstood my question:
1. I told that I'm building project on ARM Cortex M4 OF TM4C123G launchpad and want to build project on DM8127
2.DM8127 has an ARM Cortex A8, not M3 ( from what I read in datasheet )

Le Hai,

DM8127 has both ARM Cortex-A8 and Cortex-M3 cores, check DM8127 TRM.

For how to create CCS project for Cortex-A8 core, refer to the below user guide:

Hi Le Hai,

What is the OS you have decided to develop on DM8127 and what is the base hardware you are referring to ? If it is DM8127 Camera Starter Kit, then it is advised to follow the steps mentioned here for the software Package that is supported : processors.wiki.ti.com/.../IPNC_RDK_DM38x_,_DM8127

I used TI -RTOS on DM8127

I tried your link, but it doesn't mention anything about setting up OS

Hi,

What is that you are trying to develop ? If you have not decided the OS, you can download the IPNC RDK here: www.ti.com/.../IPNC-RDK-CSK. It runs Linux OS. You can use the prebuilt images as mentioned here(This is for setting up OS): processors.wiki.ti.com/.../IPNC_RDK_DM38x_,_DM8127
