MMWCAS-RF-EVM: Software for phase calibration

Hello Experts,

My customer has MMWCAS-RF-EVM and MMWCAS-DSP-EVM. They are thinking to connect MMWCAS-RF-EVM and their FPGA board for raw data capture and the backend processing in the future.

They want to do phase calibration with MMWCAS-RF-EVM and their FPGA board once those connections are available. Do they need software running on FPGA for phase calibration such as Radar SDK which is from TDA team? Or are only MMWCAS-RF-EVM and mmwave studio required for phase calibration (i.e. mmwave studio controls MMWCAS-RF-EVM, Radar SDK type of software doesn't have to run on FPGA)?

In order to compute the calibration coefficients raw data must be captured.The calibration coefficients will be generated in matlab.

After computing the calibration coefficients are computed, the coefficients are applied to the raw data during processing.

So, I don't think they will need additional software to generate the calibration coefficients.

Do they plan to run the processing chain in the FPGA?

Thank you for your answer. I understand. One more question. In order to control AWR (send chirp config, etc), do we need MCU/SoC/FPGA? Or does mmwave studio control AWR?

The processing chain will use the calibration coefficients in the same way as the Radar SDK code.

In order to control AWR, one must consider the SOP mode. In SOP mode 4 the sensor is controlled through SPI from a Host or the PC using mmWave Studio
