Hi all,

We tested the radar sensor on MMWAVEICBOOST – mmWave sensors carrier card platform with IWR6843ISK-ODS plug in module.

We discover that there are auditable noise coming out from the board after we start the overhead detection demo.

Do anyone knows whether it is normal?

I have checked below threads which state that it is issue on the inductor/capacitor.

Are you asking what should be done on the existing design/EVM to reduce the audible hum

Are you asking about alternate design for your own board development.

Actually, both.

We need to know what should be done on the existing design.

If it not work, we need alternate design to eliminate that sound noise.

Tom,

MLCC capacitor known to have acoustic noise on the power management rails due to switching activity, You could refer to below e2e posts there are some recommendations to overcome acoustic noise and recommendation for acoustically quieter capacitors.

Thanks for your information.

However, those information is just in general context.

We need to know exactly which part of the circuit/capacitors/inductors generate the noise.

As I mentioned, there also have sound noise in the MMWAVEICBOOST (PCB version: PROC074B) with IWR6843ISK-ODS (PCB version: PROC075 REV A) plug in module.

Could you advise which part of circuit probably can produce such noise?

Or TI already have updated PCB version which can solve this issue?

Tom,

Most probably, these would be output of DCDC converters used in the PMIC. Depending upon chirp configuration load current will change hence there could be possibility of feeble auditable noise. Hence you may want check on the magnetics/capacitors.
