AWR1642: Problem capturing raw data after configuring with Studio_CLI

Hi,

I am using Studio_CLI to configure AWR1642Boost with DCA1000EVM in order to capture raw data from ethernet port on DCA1000. I managed to config the radar and receive the response with 'Done' at the end. But when I arrange and look at the received raw data (plotted for one loop), I see a constant, nonchanging data added to the raw data. When I configure the radar with same configuration and mmwave Studio I don't see such behavior. My assumption is that the raw data format should be the same in both cases, so wondering why I see this extra bytes added to the raw data.

Hi,

I haven't tried with many other configurations, but I get the same result with a few other variations.

Do you see same behaviour, when you capture data and process it with post_proc tool (via mmWave Studio CLI tool)?

what about default configuration comes with mmWave Studio CLI tool for AWR1642 device? You see same behavior there as well?

Yes same result with a default config. I also flashed with a pre-built Studio_CLI binary instead of my build, but I still see the same issue. I have also tried with another AWR1642Boost as well with the same result.

Can you calculate the number of bytes generated by the AWR device and stream over LVDS based on the configuration? that should be same as captured file size.

With the default Studio CLI tool and configuration, we were not observing any issue when processed the captured data using PostProc tool.

I've checked the size of captured raw data file and it's slightly smaller than what it should be. I've also noticed that I'm receiving an error at the end of log from studio_cli.exe indicating incorrect number of samples.

It's strange since I'm not using any other tools than TI's now, the configuration file is the default, the Studio_CLI binary is from the pre-built folder, the post_proc tool is from TI, the hardware is1642Boost and DCA1000EVM, no idea where the problem could be.

Hi,

I'm able to get the correct processing with AWR1642, here is the snapshot from the postProc tool

You need to calculate the captured file size

For e.g. I have 8192KB file size capture and able to process 32 frames in the postProcess tool.

2 <16Bit>*2<complex data>*4<no. of Rx>*256 <no. of sample>*64 <no. of total chirp in a frame> * 32 <no. of frames>

With this calculation, device is streaming right length of data and same right size is being captured to the PC in adc_data*.bin file.
