IWR6843AOPEVM: Unable to detect COM port

Hi Vinay,

Are you trying to connect 2 devices? From your screenshot, it seems the com ports are properly listed in the device manager as COM3 and COM4, is this not the case?

Hi Alec,

     No, I am using only one device. I think the standard way and enhanced COM ports appear like that.

In other e2e forum from other user was also getting the same.

Would be great if you can help me to resolve this issue.

If you are struggling to connect via uniflash, it is likely due to the incorrect Switch settings on your EVM. Please refer to the EVM Setup Guide in the mmWave Industrial Toolbox on TI Resource Explorer.

On TI Resource Explorer, it can be found under mmWave Sensors -> Industrial Toolbox -> Documentation -> Hardware Guides -> EVM Setup Operational Modes

Thanks Alec. I dont know it started showing the ports properly now, with multiple restarts, as shown below

After this, I followed the video of TI training https://training.ti.com/hardware-setup-iwr6843aop

And started uniflash and configured COM4 port as cfg/enhanced port.

I gave binary file from folder : C:\ti\mmwave_sdk_03_05_00_04\firmware\radarss\

xwr6xxx_radarss_rprc.bin.

But uniflash seem to be stuck.

I also tried demovisualizer too: But there also after configuring the COM4 (cfg port ) and Demo port as COM3, i see black bar below browser showing Hardware connected, but there is no console output nor any plots.

Still seem to have issues ?

A couple of things here.

xwr6xxx_radarss_rprc.bin is NOT the out of box binary. That is a firmware patch for the RadarSS that is typically built into the binaries that are flashed onto the device. The out of box demo binary is located at <mmWave SDK Location>\packages\ti\demo\xwr68xx\mmw\xwr68xx_mmw_demo.bin

If uniflash hangs at "Opening Com Port", it means that it is unable to open that COM, which indicates one of a couple potential issues.

• Another program (such as your browser if you have the mmWave Demo Visualizer open) has that COM port open already
• Your device is not in the correct mode

If you have not done so already, I would highly recommend you take a look at the Out Of Box Demo User's Guide in the mmWave Industrial Toolbox. This guide can be found on TI Resource Explorer under:

I did ensure while flashing the browser demovisualizer is not open.

Now as you suggested i tried flashing C:\ti\mmwave_sdk_03_05_00_04\packages\ti\demo\xwr68xx\mmw\xwr68xx_mmw_demo.bin is taken as image for flashing. Still the uniflash output looks same.

It does not show any logs also to see what is happening .

Which SOP mode is the device in? This is controlled by the switch on the back of the AOPEVM.

Device is in Flash mode. SOP switch is ON back of AOPEVM.
