FDC2214EVM: Water detection

Part Number: FDC2214EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TIDA-01465, FDC2114

Hi Team,

Our customer would like to use the FDC2114 to detect water similar to the TIDA-01465 reference design. He tried to set up an external sensor on channel 2 using a metallic mesh as shown in the picture below.

According to our customer,

I have set up my mesh sensor on a fixed distance and grounded the reference object

I then add water, however the capacitance barely changes

I do not really know the material of the mesh, but it is conductive.

it is connected via the yellow cable attached to the crocodile clamp

He shared the configuration (JSON) file as he is worried it might have to do with the configuration

I shared the other thread to our customer and here is his response.

Hi, the following is stated in the thread:
"As a troubleshooting step, please try measuring the amplitude and frequency of the sensor waveform with a high impedance probe and an oscilloscope, and compare what you see to the values"

It is a bit unclear to me what I should physically measure on. Should I measure on the mesh or something else on the sensor?

This is the oscillation I get when measuring on the sensor (mesh). But it does not change even though I can see the capacitance change in the GUI.
Based on this do you have any suspicion on what could be faulty?
