AWR2243: How to burn firmware to QSPI flash on MMWCAS-RF-EVM

Hi,

The MMWCAS-RF-EVM will also require a TDA2XX cascade radar host board to connect to PC. You can then use the mmWaveStuido GUI for firmware download (over SPI interface) to all devices (master and slave devices). You will need to use the mmWaveStudio for 2nd generation parts for this purpose. Also kindly refer to the MMWAVE DFP user guide for getting started on this application (it documents all the procedures and provides examples as well).

From below post, it seems that TDA2XX download the firmware to AWR2243 on-chip RAM with mmwave studio

There is a dedicated QSPI flash for every AWR2243 device. Customer wanted to burn a .bin file to the QSPI flash. Can TDA2XX download the firmware to QSPI flash via mmwave studio?

Hi Shine,

For programming the QSPI flash on the device you will need to use the Uniflash tool. Details of this are logged in the Uniflash user guide and the DFP user guide. The below user guide is also applicable for AWR2243.

There is no MMWCAS-RF-EVM option in uniflash device list as below post mentioned.

In the above post, our engineer said that C:\ti\mmwave_studio_03_00_00_14\mmWaveStudio\Scripts\cascade\Cascade_Flashing_example.lua can be used to burn the firmware to external QSPI flash.

I found that it uses ar1.DownloadBSSFw_mult to download the firmware in Cascade_Flashing_example.lua. And I have asked the function of  ar1.DownloadBSSFw_mult in below post, our engineer told me ar1.DownloadBSSFw_mult load firmware to internal RAM instead of QSPI flash.

I am a little confused about the above two conclusions. Would you help me confirm which one is correct?

BTW, I have asked customer to use the lua in below post, but he failed.
