We have the problem that if we connect the LM35CZ like the LMCAZ the output is not the same.
Also the LMCZ is getting hot. Normally we have a supply voltage of 24VDC.
Is there any difference in connecting?

Hi Markus,
Thanks for posting to the sensors forum!
The only difference between these parts is the packing option, as mentioned in the thread below:
https://e2e.ti.com/support/sensors-group/sensors/f/sensors-forum/576112/lm35caz-vs-lm35cz
Both devices should be connected according to this image from the datasheet.
Can you confirm the devices are connected properly? How many devices have you tested with?
Best regards,
Jesse
Hej Jesse,
we have 400 parts bougth. 10 parts we have tested. All of them shows approx 0 volts at the ouput. The amps are rising, the part is getting hot and the current limiter of the power supply responds (5mA).
Regards Markus
Hej, Jesse,
is it possible to send serveral part to TI to check it?
Regards Markus
Markus
Would you please see if you can you send schematic and picture of these mounted, to confirm connections as shown in "from bottom view" image Jesse has shared?
Hej, Josh,
for a test we only connect the pins to the supply voltage and a voltage meter to the output pin to see how it works.
Hey Markus,
Could you share a picture of the device with the supply and voltage meter connected?
Best regards,
Jesse
Dear Jesse,
I will try to get my electronic engineer in the lab, tomorrow.
Is it possilble to send you 1 or 2 parts for investigations?
Regards Markus
Hey Markus,
We don't handle returns through E2E. For more information on customer returns you can go here: https://www.ti.com/support-quality/additional-information/customer-returns.html
Best regards,
Jesse
Dear Jesse,
Regards Markus
Hi Markus,
We certainly are interested in investigating possible product piracy, and we have the customer return process to ensure the returns are handled with care and urgency. This is why we do not handle the returns through the E2E forums. Again, the recommended actions for customer returns can be found on this page: https://www.ti.com/support-quality/additional-information/customer-returns.html
Sending pictures of the devices here will help us 1) confirm the connections according to the datasheet and 2) determine if there are any physical defects on the devices that would indicate counterfeiting.
Best regards,
Jesse
Hi Markus,
Thanks for sending the picture. The markings on the package appear to be correct. Can you provide the label from the box or reel as well, along with a picture of the device connected when you are able?
I have also requested samples of LM35CZ and LM35CAZ to verify operation on my end.
Best regards,
Jesse
Hej Jesse,
sorry, but we bought the parts (400 pcs) from distributor Reichel elektronik in Germany. Therefor we don´t have the original package. Only a plastic bag.
If you can tell me where you get this sample parts we will bought there too.
Regards Markus
Hey Markus,
There should be some inventory for the LM35CZ/NOPB and LM35CAZ/NOPB on the LM35 product page under "Ordering and quality", although in limited quantities: https://www.ti.com/product/LM35. You can purchase there.
You may be able to request samples by clicking "Request samples" in the table, but approval may be required.
Best regards,
Jesse
Hey Markus,
Just to confirm, have you tried switching the connections to the Vs and GND pins to see if the behavior is the same?
Best regards,
Jesse
Hej Jesse,
there are no parts on stock. Also I can´t order some samples.
Regards Markus
Hey Markus,
You may be able to find stock at one of our authorized distributors: https://www.ti.com/ordering-resources/distributors.html
Unfortunately we cannot confirm whether or not the parts are legitimate because they were not purchased from an authorized distributor or TI directly. Please see the following note on the authorized distributor page:
I will still provide an update here when I have tested my parts.
Best regards,
Jesse
To close this out, I tested several LM35CZ/NOPB parts with 24 V supply and saw the correct output voltage and the part did not get hot. Please ensure part is connected properly and order parts from an authorized distributor.
