AWR2243: The synchronization in cascade mode

Part Number: AWR2243

Hi Experts,

I have a question about the 20GHz Local Oscillator (LO) signal (19 GHz to 20.25 GHz)  in cascade mode.

As I know, each chip has a Local Oscillator which can generate the LO signal,  the 40MHz crystal oscillator provides a reference signal to RF synthesizer  from the timing engine to make sure the FMCW chirps is synchronous between different chips ,   so what's the function of the LO signal shared by the master chip?
