FDC2214: How to design sensor for anti-collision application

Part Number: FDC2214
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: FDC1004

Hi Team,

My customer want to design an anti-collision system for Mobile C-ARM X-RAY DSA equipment with our FDC2214 capacitive sensing device. The below is a picture of their target equipment. The tusk of the sensing circuit is to detect any objectives (hand, body, metal or nonmetal) closing to it. For this purpose, they are planning to arrange some copper plate (such as flex PCB) in internal surface of the cube in picture to act as sensor. The target detectable proximation distance is 50mm to 100mm. Do you have any idea about how to design/arrange the sensors for it?

Thank you!

John
