I used to TDC1000 ~8 years ago to do some TOF tank measurements and it worked well. I know the lifecycle is still active but it's been a while since I've checked in with this product line. Has TI released anything to replace the TDC1000 or is this still "the" chip to use? I will be developing a sensor to go on the hull of an ocean going boat and alarm when the boat hull is below a certain depth of water.
1) Is there a better chip for this application?
2) I'm not sure what frequency we will use be but somewhere between 30-200khz. Part of the design process will be balancing transducer size and frequency/transmission distance. Where can I find design resources to help select a transducer? I don't know how large a 50khz piezo is compared to a 70khz so ideally looking for something that lists transducer sizes for different frequencies and something detailing how to select transducer thickness.
