DCA1000EVM: decrease the amount of time the DCA1000 waits until the last packet gets transmitted

Hi Team,

Good day. I am posting this inquiry on behalf of the customer.

Currently, I am working with the DCA1000 in combination with the AWR6843.

The Radar is configured to send a single frame and stops afterward.

The UDP Packets from the DCA1000 are sent very fast and received correctly.

However, the last UDP packet is delayed by 2 seconds. In my opinion, this is due to the fact that the last bytes of the radar do not fill the UDP packet completely.

Is there an option to decrease the amount of time the DCA1000 waits until the last packet gets transmitted?

The delay of 2 seconds is critical because I would like to do several single frame measurements and the data shall be processed as fast as possible.

It seems that you are trying to do some real-time offline processing. Unfortunately, we do not have control over the delay. Maybe you can take a look at the DCA1000CLI applications. It can work together with SDK OOB demo to do raw ADC data capture. And it provides all the source code for customer to modify.

Just received the confirmation from our design team:

The DCA tries to optimize the UDP packet size to max size , this helps getting max throughout. Hence it waits for sufficient data before sending out. To account for the end of data , it stops waiting after some time and sends out what data pending. Hence the last packet could get delayed.

However, there is no plan to change this behavior in the DCA

To work around the before-mentioned problem I tried to change the UDP packet size but nothing changed.

Additionally, I found the following post:

Sorry, the delay parameter mentioned in the quoted thread is defined as "packetDelay_us" in the json file. We have found that if customer can not capture any date, then adjust this initial delay can be helpful. But I doubt this parameter will be helpful in this case.
