IWRL6432: Elevation Estimation and Parameters of Antenna Geometry

Hi Expert,

In my case, the antenna RX1 is designed to move up with a spacing of one wavelength to the RX2 and 3 in the elevation. Below figure is the antenna geometry.

Since the spacing of elevation is changed, the phase difference will be changed in the elevation FFT. Does elevation estimation in IWRL6432 radar support this design? If yes, please tell me where to modify.

Hi ChiaChih,

Currently the SDK for IWRL6432 only supports the IWRL6432BOOST antenna design. SDK 5.2 will support modifying the antenna design.

Hi ChiaChih,

Thank you for linking this! Yes, this is the way to modify antennas today and this is what we were pointing customers to before we knew we had a fix coming in our next SDK release. I usually don't share this method on the forums as it is complex but I can help you take these steps if you would like.

So is there a way of changing the spacing of antenna to one lambda? or could you teach me about how to configure the rx2 that has the spacing of one lambda?

Hi ChiaChih,

Yes we can help with this and we will be reaching out offline since we are already supporting you offline.

For anyone else reading this thread -- the easiest way to get this functionality will be to use the additional CLI commands which will be available in SDK 5.2 which will enable custom antenna patterns and antenna spacing.
