AWR1843AOP: EM Modeling Antennae

Part Number: AWR1843AOP

Hi,

We're developing a product using the AWR1843AOP.

In order to design the radome, we need to model the antenna array in CST Studio Suite. We have searched the E2E forum posts for AWR1843AOP, but there aren't enough details to accurately model the antennae. We are aware of this helpful thread:

https://e2e.ti.com/support/sensors-group/sensors/f/sensors-forum/1075346/awr1843aop-antenna-absolute-coordinates-in-relation-to-ball-a1

Which provides some but not all details necessary to model the microstrip patch antennae.

Is it possible to share an EM model for CST?

If no such EM model exists, can we get the following details about the antennae in order to create the model ourselves?

  1. Dk/Df of the antenna substrate
  2. Thickness of antenna substrate
  3. Length, width, and thickness of patch antennae
  4. Patch antennae feed mechanism (probe-/aperture-fed?)
  5. Patch antennae feed point

If necessary, we have an active NDA with TI and can direct message.

Thank you,

Kevin

  • Hi Kevin,

Typically we share encrypted HFSS model of our package with all of our TI customers.  We also require an NDA with TI.  Unfortunately we do not have CST support.  We only use ANSYS HFSS tools.  I can share with you the XY position of the antenna patches and dimension.  That is all I can do.  Who is the sales/field engineer from TI that you are working with?

    Regards,

    Sami
