AWR1843: Effect on performance of radar, if battery is placed behind the PCB antenna

Hi experts,

I am facing a design constraint and need to place the battery behind the PCB on which AWR1843 and Its antenna is placed. I can't find any details, if any battery behind the Board can affect the performance of the radar. Please Guide me through, if this can cause any issues and if so, what should be the minimum distance between the battery and the Board. My application has 10 mm distance between battery and board currently.

Are we talking about AOP or non-AOP device?

Hi Kunal,

AOP stands for Antenna on Package, where the antenna is part of the device package.

Hi Sami,

No, that is not an AOP device. But the antenna is right beside the Chip on the PCB.

Same way it is routed here in the EVM.

Hi Kuna,

Is the battery on the same side/layer as the etched antennas? If it is on the same side/layer then it may cause an issue if the battery happen to fall inside the FOV of the antennas. However if the battery is on the bottom/back side of the PCB then it should not be an issue.
