hello ,i have a question about Doppler DDMA dpu process method in the picture as follow, the picture is from "mmWave SDK Module Documentation-DPU-Doppler DDMA":
In my opinion ,use sum Rx and sum Tx is for Incoherent superposition,so i think the process sequence is “ABS DOP FFT result” ,”Sum RX“,”Sum Tx“,”log to change the result to dB“,if first use log to calculate the abs result, and then do the sum Rx and sum Tx,this means multiple the abs result not sum, because log(A) + log(B) = log(AB)。
Can anyone answer my question?thanks a lot.
Hi,
Thanks for reaching out on e2e! Would it be possible to rephrase your question? I am unable to understand it fully.
Are you asking about the sequence of steps in the dopplerDDMA DPU?

hi,i'm confuse about the log step。 in my opinion Incoherent superposition means sum the target amplitude, but if use log and sum it means multiple the target amplitude, this is a little different from my understanding of radar signal processing。thanks a lot。
Hi,
Thank you for clarifying. This summing on the data after performing log2 is done to increase SNR (better distribution strictly by looking at the numbers after applying log2) when the data is fed to the CFAR block which will improve its outputs. Please do not interpret the summing in log scale as otherwise. This summed up data is not used directly anywhere except to generate a bin detection list. Hope this helps.
