DRV5055-Q1: Need Help on Hall Sensor

Part Number: DRV5055-Q1

Hi,

We are trying to use Hall sensor(DRV5055A1ELPGMQ1) for measuring the magnetic field intensity of a electromagnetic (12V KK-P20/15).

Can anyone help how to place hall sensor.

As per data sheet hall sensor output voltage should be Vcc/2 when it is not placed in magnetic field, where i could not be able to satisfy this condition.

Regards,

  • Hi Murali,

Thanks for posting on the Sensors Forum! When considering placement, the DRV5055-Q1 is sensitive to the magnetic field component that is perpendicular to the top of the package as shown in the image below.

When the North pole is detected, the output voltage should be between 0 and Vcc/2 and when the South pole is detected, the output voltage is between Vcc/2 to Vcc.

We recently deployed a new tool that you can test your magnetic response in your design:

  • Hi Celeste,

Thanks for your information, I could be able to read data as mentioned.

One more question I have I would like to measure the magnetic field intensity (rage of each sensor) of multiple magnets connecting 4-6 hall sensors around a Electromagnet, and how can I nullify the field strength? captured by adjacent sensors overlapped field strength.

  • Hi Murali,

What application is this for? Are you referring to post processing the data to analyze the field at various sensors separately?
