LM35: Counterfeited LM35

Hi everyone,

I was prototyping a design using a LM35 that I got from what i thought was a trusted source and couldn't get it to work right.
The output was erratic although i was following the straightforward datasheet from TI. Despite LM35 not being a key element in the whole project, I got pretty curious and google it to see if other faced the same issue.
The net is actually flooded with cases like mine were counterfeited parts ended up on grey market.

Seems like they re-engrave To-92 cheap transistors and fool people with it, and I believe this is what happened to me.

I cracked it opened to see the die and as far as my knowledge goes, it looks like a regular bipolar transistor (see pictures).
I'm curious to hear opinion of a TI engineer since I never saw LM35 die before so not sure what to expect once opened...
