AWR1843AOP: Setup Required for Antenna Radiation Pattern Testing

Our team is looking to perform 3D radiation pattern testing using the AWR1843AOPEVM now and later we'd like to repeat this using our designed prototype product w/ the AWR1843AOP part installed on our custom prototype PCA. The purpose of this testing will be do test how the antenna radiation pattern is impacted by different types of installation cases. For example, installations w/ different enclosure wall materials, how close the enclosure walls are relative to the AWR1843AOP and PCB edge, and use of RF absorber materials (Foam, mat, ect.) between the PCB edge and the enclosure walls or behind the PCB in a small enclosure size.

Radiation pattern testing at an external lab requires that the AWR1843AOP be put into continuous-wave (CW) mode. Are there instructions for setup for radiation pattern testing of the EVM? If not, are there instructions for how to put the AWR1843AOP into CW mode for antenna radiation pattern testing at a certified lab.

The antenna radiation pattern testing that I am referring to is for compliance/RED and other GMA style compliance testing. I know this will require CW transmit. I saw in the thread you linked that there's a reference use "radar studio". Is this the same as "SMARTRFTM-STUDIO" that can be found here: Product Page (ti.com)??? If so, the AWR1843AOP* products are not listed as devices supported by this tool. Will you please point me to the tool required and instructions to put the AWR1843AOPEVM into CW mode?

Okay. Are there instructions that explain how to use this tool to put the AWR1843AOPEVM radio into CW mode? Also, are there instructions for what steps to take for setup to perform RED 3D antenna radiation pattern testing for official compliance testing? The product we are developing will be required to perform 3D pattern radiation testing to meet RED standards EN 301 489-51 and EN 302 264. EN 302 264, and specifically, the limits for EIRP under 4.5.1.3 b). Is there a reference document or instructions that would explain all sequenced steps to take to prepare the AWR1843AOP for this testing, or is it simply put the device radar into CW mode and there are no other steps that need to be taken?

Now, for the RED complainace, please take care to reference the decoupling capacitor placement and grounding on the EVM as this will impact your emissions performance. Specifically, the 1.4V SYNTH, 1.4V APLL, and 1.8V VCO capacitors can play a major role in passing the certification due to 14.4GHz and 28.8GHz emissions coming from our internal APLL.
