Good morning,

I want to know if the AWR1843AOP radar is a good choice for ADAS applications such as side radar and corner radar knowing that the maximum range is 10 meters and the maximum speed is around 30 KM/h. The radar will be mounted in a truck. The main objective is to detect a nearby object. I think a high resolution in elevation is a good indicator of the size of the object. At this point I'm not sure if elevation is necessary. If we want to classify objects, isn't an elevation resolution of 60 degrees enough?
What firmware can I use for this application with the AWR1843BOOST? as far as I know only automated parking and obstacle detection labs work on the AWR1843BOOST.

A similar question was asked recently: (+) AWR1843AOPEVM: AWR1843AOP for side radar application - Sensors forum - Sensors - TI E2E support forums Many of your questions are answered there including that 'yes' this is a good choice for side radar at 10m range and 30km/hr, and also what FW to use.

Generally the AWR1843AOP is ideal for blind spot detection, parking assist, and similar short range applications.

Better elevation resolution may or may not be necessary depending on what level of classification you are trying to achieve. A coarse resolution should be ok for classifying large objects.
