Hi Team

We would like to confirm the followings:

  1. Can this hall sensor place near the copper connector pin? (the following is the placement that we intend to do
  2. Is there any rule of the keepout areas of the hall sensor (e.g. not too close to the metal cover or high current component?)

    Brian,

    For DC magnetic fields, copper is permeable, so there is not a concern of the copper interacting with the magnet.  However, if the bigger concern is if there is a strong current in the connector.  In this case, we would follow the right-hand-rule to determine the direction of the magnetic field induced by the current to determine whether it would be strong enough to influence the sensor.

    The field can be calculated with this equation:

    In most cases, you would likely need to have several amps flowing through the wire to create a strong enough magnetic field to be observed by the sensor, but with this being a linear sensor you may see some small offset applied.
