AWR1843BOOST: AWR1843: Out of band radiated spectral emission

Part Number: AWR1843BOOST

Tool/software:

Hi,

As we apply the following profile configure

(SDK version :mmwave_sdk_03_05_00_04 )

 .

profileCfg 0 77.3 8 5 47 0 0 24.4140625 0 512 12500 0 0 30

profileId 0

startFreqConst = 77.3

idleTimeConst = 8

adcStartTimeConst = 5

rampEndTime = 47

txOutPowerBackoffCode = 0

txPhaseShifter = 0

freqSlopeConst = 24.4140625

txStartTime = 0

numAdcSamples = 512

digOutSampleRate = 12500

hpfCornerFreq1 = 0

hpfCornerFreq2 = 0

rxGain = 30

.

The Out-of-band in CE EN302264 certification will be fail as pic

I have 3 questions

1. As I set start frequency at 77.3GHz -> Why could I measured Power from 77.15GHz ?
2. Which kinds of setting factor in chip parameter would impact the rising&falling frequency slope ? (Tx start time =0)
3. Is there any other practical way to inrease the rising&falling frequency slope

  • Hi Chen,

    Sorry for the delay, but someone from our team will get back to you.

    Regards,

    Sami

  • Hello,

    This is likely due to synthesizer settling. There will be some undershoot at the start/end of the ramp that can show up, especially with wide bandwidth chirps.

    If you increase the TX start time you should see it improve. I would recommend to start with 1us TX start time and then increase further if needed.

    Regards,

    Adrian

  • Hi Adrian,

    Thanks your imeediatly reply. We'd try 1us > It really help but still failed > We will increse further more to see what will happen

    I still have 2 questions

    1.From 1843 EVM report
    /cfs-file/__key/communityserver-discussions-components-files/1023/7356.12554995_2D00_E2V2-EN-302-264-v2.1.1-AWR1843-Series-Final-Report.pdf

    We could see great result in 1.3GHz/4GHz BW mode at test case(Out-of-band)
    i'm wondering what's setting of Idel time and Tx start time in the chirp individually?
    1.3GHz BW mode
    - Idle time =?
    - Tx start time =?

    4GHz  BW mode
    - Idle time =?
    - Tx start time =?

    2. TI had suggest cusomer to use -23dBc to get the final result at different (1443)
    Why is this suggestion work?

    Sincerely,
    Howard Hsu

  • Hello,

    Below are the scripts we used. It looks like we increased the start frequency by 100 MHz to workaround, but increasing TX start time should also work. Can you try 2us and see the behavior?

    I am not familiar with the -23dBc you are referring to. Can you please clarify?
