IWR6843AOPEVM: Request the source code for Drone Object Detection Application

Part Number: IWR6843AOPEVM

Tool/software:

Hi TI,

I have a project of using radar for drone object detection. The hardware i have is IWR6843AOPEVM.

I find that there is an example source code meeting the application requirements. That is in \radar_toolbox_2_20_00_05\source\ti\examples\Presence_and_Motion_Detection. However, this example source code doesn't support for IWR6843AOPEVM (the hardware I am using).

May you suggest how i can use the source code Presence_and_Motion_Detection or something with the same application for IWR6843AOPEVM.

  • Hi

Thanks for your query. Please allow us a couple of days to respond.

  • Hello.

Presence and motion is only available for the xWRLx432 devices.  You can do something similar with the Out of Box demo for the 6843 and/or the people tracking demo for 6843.

    Sincerely,

    Santosh

  • Hi,

    Thanks for your support.

I have tried to used the Out of Box demo,  add "tracking commands" and " Static detection commands" to the config file in order to let radar be able to detect people and other objects when they are static or moving. As the result, the radar can track people when they move quite well and detect some static objects.

I have more question that I want to detect the static wire like the powerline in the "Drone Obstacle Detection" (link: https://dev.ti.com/tirex/explore/node?node=A__ACES8iIo8A6zkCwmpv68TA__radar_toolbox__1AslXXD__LATEST).
So, may I detect the static wire like that but using the Out of Box with "tracking commands" and " Static detection commands"? If not, how to detect the static wire with IWR6843AOPEVM.

  • Hello.

So, may I detect the static wire like that but using the Out of Box with "tracking commands" and " Static detection commands"? If not, how to detect the static wire with IWR6843AOPEVM.

You could use those, but the page you linked provides a configuration for the 6432 that is able to see the wire while it is moving, so what you could also try is map those configuration settings to a similar configuration for the 6843.  If you want to use the static detection commands, you may want to use the area scanner demo as it has the static detection algorithm integrated into the demo.

    Sincerely,

    Santosh
