OPT3001: Readings stability and repeatability

Part Number: OPT3001
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: OPT3002, OPT3002EVM

Tool/software:

Hi,

We're developing a low cost, portable spectrometer using the OPT3002 (we are using the OPT3002EVM evaluation module). We are having some problems with the sensor output stability and repeatability. Currently we are testing the sensor inside a completely dark chamber with a 520nm LED. When we turn on the LED, the readings show an exponential decay for around 10 seconds before they settle. The same happens at 800ms and 100ms integration times. The other problem we are facing is that after turning the LED off and on again there the reading is different by more than 2%. The LED is driven by a constant current source, so we are pretty confident that it is not a problem with the light source.

Any advice would be welcome.

Best,

Pablo

  • Hi Pablo,

Could you please send the data for the 800ms and 100ms integration times in an excel file? In addition to the integration times, are you running the device in automatic full scale mode?

Whenever you are turning the LED off and on, are you still seeing that settling behavior you were seeing previously? If so, is this <2% variation after the data has settled?

    Thanks,

    Daniel Balmaceda
