Hello, I am a student and I would like to ask if is it possible to change the antenna of the the IWRL6432 sensor. My classmates and I plan to change the antenna into a phase array antenna to achieve beamforming and I would like to know if this it possible? We also would want to achieve beamsteering if beamforming is possible?

    You can change the antenna design for the IWRL6432, but you will be responsible for ensuring it is designed well through simulation and testing. You cannot achieve phased-array beamforming with the 6432 through software though - two TX are not enough for TX beamsteering.

    Thank you for responding to my query. I would like to ask if can you recommend me any type of mmWave sensor aside from IWRL6432 that we can modify its antenna and it can count people. We plan to use it inside a bus vehicle. As for the antenna, we plan to use a manually designed phased array antenna, is that feasible?

    You can modify the antennas on the IWR6843 device, and this has TX beamsteering capabilities, but again, you will be responsible for simulating and verifying the performance of the antennas.

    I have another question, is there a tutorial that I can watch on how I can change the antenna? I'm thinking of manually removing it by solder, it would be of much help if I could know how to approach it. Still the device is the IWRL6843.

    I would NOT recommend trying to remove the antennas by desoldering and resoldering on new ones. The matching at 60 GHz is finely tuned, and you're unlikely to produce a good result.
