Tool/software:
Could you provide any guide or explanation on configuring this chip or a similar one to act as a Ground Penetrating Radar? Our use case would be to measure the thickness of PTFE, hopefully by detecting the reflection from the border of PTFE and air. The mm-wave radar should have enough penetration in PTFE as its dielectric constant is much lower than that of soil or concrete.
Thanks, Nicholas
Hi,
We have not explored this application for the IWR1443. If so, I'm not sure if the radar will be able to measure the thickness of a surface perpendicular to the direction of propagation of the radar wave. Is there any research showing that either of these is feasible?
If so, then you would likely want to collect raw ADC data to design this system or algorithm. See guide here.
You may also be able to leverage our level sensing offering and tweak it to your needs, though this would need to be vigorously tested, as I just see some similarities between the applications, and cannot tell you whether the code would easily adapt to your needs.
Best,
Nate
