MMWAVE-STUDIO: Drone detection setup

Part Number: MMWAVE-STUDIO
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DCA1000EVM, AWR1843BOOST, IWRL6432

Tool/software:

Hi, I use DCA1000EVM and AWR1843BOOST to make detection on a drone in certain area but, after post-proc the result I got didn't showing any sign of the drone or even the micro doppler of the drone, may i know if you have the tutorial or proper setup that i can make in MMWAVE STUDIO?

  • Hello,

There may be some confusion here. The DCA1000 is for unprocessed, unfiltered, dumped I/Q data straight from the ADC buffer. There is no processing done on this data, and this data is useful for those who want to write their own algorithms that can generate point clouds and micro doppler information. If you want an example that has TI's implementation of point cloud and micro doppler, the best you'll be able to find is within our Human/Non-human example demo made for IWRL6432.

  • Hi, Thank you for the information, I will study the link you have given.

That means the data we get still can be processed to get the micro doppler information right? So if can be generated the micro-doppler is it will be illustrated by the spectrogram or how? thus the link you have give is for IWRL6432. but I am using XWR1843.

  • Hello,

You will have to write the processing algorithms yourself if starting with the raw data. The 6432 is the only example demo we have developed micro doppler algorithms for public open source use.
