IWR1443: Plausible spatial resolution with IWRL 1432BOOST board for surface scanning

The application I am working in is in the grain/dry solids. I want to measure the topography of a tank as shown.

I understand that with an IWR1443 6x4 antenna layout the depth(z) resolution is good, in the mms. But what kind of resolution is plausible in the Y/X directions with just the one chip? are we talking cm? or m?

Im currently playing with the evaluation board for this chipset(IWRL1432BOOST) and I don't even know where to start to use it to generate a point cloud of what it can see. Any recommendations?

Hello,

What you are depicting is what we call the use of radar for "level sensing" or "tank level probing". For this application we have the high accuracy example project which can provide accurate range measurements of tanks/silos to the millimeter. Companies that use our product for this application do not particularly care much about the X and Y coordinates, but want to assure that the highest point, whether it be directly below the radar or off to the side in cases of grainy/lumpy substance surfaces, is measured which the radar can and will do.
