AWR2944: Unable to make link_test for CW mode

Tool/software:

We are trying to test different transmitters in a continuous waveform.

We came across one of the Q&A forums regarding CW transmission via link test on "e2e.ti.com/.../awr2944-how-to-enable-continuous-wave-mode-on-2944".

I am currently using:

1. mmwave_mcuplus_sdk_04_07_01_03

2. I have changed the [C:\ti\mmwave_mcuplus_sdk_04_07_01_03\mmwave_mcuplus_sdk_04_07_01_03\scripts\windows\setenv.bat

3. I tried to follow the instructions in the post regarding the makefile, change the folder to link_test i.e. C:\ti\mmwave_mcuplus_sdk_04_07_01_03\mmwave_mcuplus_sdk_04_07_01_03\ti\control\mmwave

and making files, however I encountered a issue related to the device not being supported,

I would like to ask you following questions:

1. Are there any other settings that I need to configure to run this test?

2. In CCS20.20, I cannot see any xdctools so what should be our settings for XDC_INSTALL_PATH if we want to compile examples in mmwave_mcuplus_sdl_04.06.01.02?

3. Please also help me by explaining how to set the parameters for transmitter selection, transmit power control and other settings for this example.

4. Is it possible to add this test to the code like HECR, if yes, then what should we do?

Hi Modick,

1. You should be able to build the test as long as all the locations in setenv are valid. Please confirm once and then try to run gmake clean all. We found no issue from our side.

2. You can install XDC tools separately if it is not part of CCS

3.Transmitter selection in continuous wave mode is through the API call rlSetChannelConfig. And the power can be controlled using txOutPowerBackoffCode

4. Why do you want to integrate this in HECR application? If you wish to evaluate something using CW mode, it might be easier to use mmwave studio to visualize and even to control. You can modify the HECR application also by calling the rlSetContModeConfig in HECR application, but this will break the signal chain completely as the processing is designed for chirp mode.

1. It is good to know that you found no issues on your side. As you can see from our error message, it appears that the issue is not caused by an error in the tool's locations; we have made sure to set the locations very diligently. We would like to know about your setup and the environments (SDKs and sysconfig) so that we can reproduce your successful results.

2. Which version of XDC tools is recommended for the latest version of the SDK?

Hi Modick, can you please use SYSCONFIG 1.23.0? v 1.24.1 is not supported in this SDK.

XDC version for SDK 04.06.01.02 is 3.62.01.16.

You can check these requirements in the release notes on the SDK page.

I tried it with SYSCONFIG 1.23.0, but still the error is reported stating "AWR2944 is not a valid device for the product MCU+ SDK for AWR2944",

there are not error in the setenv.bat since I don't receive error "XYZ folder does not exist Error: Failed to setup mmWave Build Environment !".

Hi Shailesh Joshi ,

I have replaced the headers/comments on the top portion as previous reply but the error still is the same.

I have tried to change the compiler to the recommended 4.0.2.LTS but it didn't solve anything.

Does CCS version matters in the make process?

Hi Modick,

I can confirm that it works fine with CCS 20.1.1, for the sake of debug, will it be possible for you to follow the tools versions as given in the release notes?
