IWR1843: Impact of RX ADC DC Offset Calibration Failure

Part Number: IWR1843

Tool/software:

Hello,

If we operate the radar using calibration results where RX ADC DC Offset Calibration has failed among the Boot-time calibrations, please tell me the impact on radar performance.
My understanding is that the spectrum near zero distance would increase - is this correct? Are there any other impacts?

Also, could you please tell me the contents of the 16 bytes in rxAdcDcCalibData of the rlCalibrationData_t structure?

Best regards,
Yasuaki

  • Hello Yasuaki.

Apologies for the delay in response.

If we operate the radar using calibration results where RX ADC DC Offset Calibration has failed among the Boot-time calibrations, please tell me the impact on radar performance.
My understanding is that the spectrum near zero distance would increase - is this correct? Are there any other impacts?

From a software perspective, if this fails the Rx signal data will be incorrect/uncalibrated, which can lead to incorrect pointcloud.  In addition, clutter removal may not work as expected.  From a hardware perspective, without this calibration we would not be able to give target distance accuracy.

Also, could you please tell me the contents of the 16 bytes in rxAdcDcCalibData of the rlCalibrationData_t structure?

Let me look into this and provide an update by the end of the day tomorrow.

    Sincerely,

    Santosh
