AWR1642: DeSerializer for LVDS output of AWR1642

Part Number: AWR1642
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TDA2

Hi

I want to make a custom hardware with AWR1642 and capturing the data through LVDS to a host processor like TDA2x. For this purpose I need to know the deserialiser  that I can use to properly deserialise the raw ADC data coming through LVDS.

I am of the understanding that TDA3x board has DS90UB924 deserialiser. Will this work fine if I connect my LVDS out from AWR1642 to this?

If not, Which deserialiser chip does TI recommend for proper deserialising the LVDS data so I can feed it to VIN port of TDA2x??

Thanks in advance,

Santhana Raj

  • Hello Santhana,
You could refer to the following post to use CSI based serializer/deserilizer parts to connect to TDA3. e2e.ti.com/.../617062

If you want to connect to the VIP (parallel) port of the TDA2 you need to use an FPGA to convert LVDS signal AWR1642 to parallel signals and then use an appropriate serializer/deserializer part that takes this parallel data.

  • Hi Vivek,

Based on your response and the referred port, do you mean to say that:

For TDA3x I have to use first an FPGA to convert LVDS to CSI2 and then use UB953 chip to deserialize it and connect to the processor.

For TDA2x, again an FPGA for LVDS to parallel signals and then a serialer to send data to VIN ports.

I am not sure I understand the TDA2x solution. Why should I use a FPGA to parallelize the data and then followed by a serializer to connect to VIN ports. I assume if I have the matching deserializer at the output of LVDS, then that would solve the problem.
    Am I missing something here??

    Thanks in Advance,

  • Hello Santhna,

I am not sure if there is a matching deserializer option for LVDS that can take the AWR1642 output directly, I am not aware of one. It would be best to check this more details regarding this on  the High Speed Interface E2E forum.

    regards,

    Vivek
